This laboratory of Cytopathology and Molecular Cytopatholgy runs around 19.000 cases/year of urine, effusions, BAL and Fine Needle Aspirations biopsies, out of which mutational analysis for K-RAS and EGFR are regularly performed on epithelial malignant tumors.
In collaboration with IMPACTS, we have been the first to employ new fixation techniques with FineFix, along with the paraffin embedding of cytological material. Ambrogio Fassina is professor of Pathology and responsible of this unit, with the collaboration of 4 Biologists, 3 technicians, 3 nurses for out-patients office and 2 secretaries.
