Institute of Pathology, Faculty of Medicine, University of Ljubljana is divided into the following departments: Department of Dermatopathology, Gastrointestinal Pathology, Head and Neck Pathology, Liver Pathology, Nephropathology, Neuropathology, Pulmonary Pathology, Uropathology, Cardiovascular pathology. The archives of the Institute comprise more than 1 million paraffin blocks, mostly from the above mentioned fields of pathology. This number includes only relatively recent paraffin blocks of biopsies which could be potentially suitable for the project (dating from 1975).
